MeCAHT is an international volunteer, faith-based, media driven coalition, working to reduce the incidences of trafficking in persons among vulnerable groups in South Africa, Nigeria and Europe. MeCAHT exists to support current government and private sector efforts as we consolidate on the gains of democracy and anti-human trafficking policy as well as provide the opportunity for sustainable freedom to survivors of Human Trafficking.
Job Title: Sewing Trainer / Manager for the iGugu Sustainable Freedom Project
Job Location: Cape Town
Start date: 18th February 2019
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the sewing classes which is made up of learners with various skills levels of experience
- Report on any machines that need repairs and maintenance, supplies needed etc
- Prepare course material, provide instruction and demonstration on sewing techniques, including the use of patterns, mending, sewing of various items
- Lead, manage production and ensuring that orders are done timeously
- Advise National Coordinator of programme developments or requirements and to promptly report any concerns
- Do quality assurance on production of ordered items
- Assist in costing of products
Requirements:
- Experience and skills in the use of sewing machines, mending of clothing, and use of patterns
- Ability to cater for individual differences in both abilities and personal experiences
- Experience in assisting or teaching small to medium groups
- Verbal and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate cross-culturally
- Reliability, respect for confidentiality at all times, a strong commitment to work philosophy, positive, optimistic and non-judgemental
- No Criminal Record
