Within the framework of the department’s objectives and yearly action plans, his/her mission is to:
- Ensures that the team follows safety standards and regulations as per organisation’s policy and MHSA Act,
- Oversee quality of Mechanical execution in the plant
- Manages and motivates the mechanical team
- Ensures co-ordination and co-operation between their and other departments
QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with 5 years experience in a heavy industry
- Or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with 7 years experience in a heavy industry
- Or 10 years hand-on experience in a heavy industry with good technical acumen
DUTIES
- Communicate clearly on information relating to potentially dangerous situations and get confirmation that they are correctly understood
- Make sure that key equipment is working properly
- Ensure the use of Personal Protective Equipment
- Check for safety and cleanness in the workplace
- Proper reporting of incidents and carry out investigations
- Ensure proper day-to-day scheduling of work and necessary resources
- Assign and review work to be performed with the artisans
- Take adequate actions when mechanical incidents occur
- Attend and contribute in daily Mission Directed Work Team (MDWT) and RCAs
- Ensure, upon completion of repairs, that equipment is in good operating condition, ready to meet operational requirements, fully inspected, tested, clean and safe
- Ensure and control quality of maintenance jobs done by contractors
- Provide reporting on repair jobs including consumption of materials, specific tools, man hours,
- Ensure completion of major operations within schedule (annual shutdowns)
- Define the mission and objectives of his workforce in line with the departmental goals
- Carry out their team performance reviews
- Develops and implements a training plan
- Performs any other reasonable tasks when requested by Mechanical Manager.
Safety
- Minimise frequency and severity of accidents or incidents of Maintenance personnel and contractors
- Identify development gab of the team in order to improve competency
Financial Performance
- Comply with Maintenance budget compliance
- Contribute to plant Capex formulation and implementation
Technical Performance
- Improve plant reliability of their respective area of responsibility
- Equipment failure rate kept to a minimum as per the maintenance department target
- Reduce the number of stoppages for incidents (NSFI)
- Compliance with the Maintenance Practices
People Development
- Ensure that subordinates are trained to perform their duties
TECHNICAL & PERSONAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
- In-depth knowledge of practical Mechanical operations
- Experience in the development of quality management methods, for example ISO 9000.
- Experience with Ball mills, Kilns, Vertical mills, Packer and pallitisers and Diesel equipment (depend on position)
- Experience with plant preventative maintenance programmes
- Leadership & Management skills
- Ability to delegate
- Problem solving & Trouble shooting
- Ability to manage performance of subordinates
- Work under pressure
- Attention to detail
