The mission of Microsoft’s Treasury organization is to protect the value of Microsoft global financial and physical assets, provide capital, and optimize risk/return. Treasury manages Microsoft’s diversified portfolio of assets and oversees Foreign Exchange, Corporate Finance, Credit Services and Risk Management.

As a key component of the organization the objective of WW Credit Services is to maximize protection of Microsoft’s investments in Accounts Receivable while acting as a trusted advisor to the business and delivering key decision support which enables profitable growth. Purpose:
This is an important position providing direction and and leadership in the implementation of Microsoft Credit Policy in the Accounts receivable portfolio in West, East and Central Africa (WECA). The role will work closely with the Microsoft Sales teams in understanding credit requirements for the region. The role will meet with Customers and Partners of Microsoft Ireland Operations LTD and provide guidance on the Microsoft credit policies while gathering feedback to be implemented in policy changes signed off at Microsoft Ireland offices in Dublin.

The role will also contribute to the overall direction of the EMEA Growth Market team and WW Credit Services organization. This is a key position within the region and offers the opportunity to influence Microsoft policy as it relates to the sales of Microsoft products and services. The individual will provide business insight and key decision support to regional leadership.

Responsibilities:
§ Stakeholder Engagement – Independantly develop relationships and partner with key organizations within Microsoft, to accomplish objectives of improved collections velocity, risk mitigation and decision support. Organisations such as Sales (Subsidiary General Managers and Sales Directors, Account Management, and Divisional Leaders), Operations (Business Management), Finance (Operational Accounting and Subsidiary controllers), and Legal and Corporate Affairs. It is key to the success of this role to develop independent and senior relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
§ Collections and Credit Management -Independantly drive improvements in the performance of the West, East and Central Africa (WECA) area collections to achieve set overdue and cash targets. Effectively manage risk within all sales channels in the Middle East and North Africa area through the credit review process and by working closely with subsidiaries and Legal and Corporate Affairs. Ensure prudent and necessary business guidance on Credit matters. Lead projects, escalations and cross-boundary initiatives within Credit Services
§ Customer Relationship Management – Develop and leverage relationships with customers and Partners. Drive and support Customer and Partner satisfaction iniatives relevant to the WECA region. Professionally and timely, address customer and stakeholder complaints.
§ Business Process Excellence – The successful individual will be required to leverage the WWCS Business Process Outsourcer (BPO) based in Dublin, Ireland to achieve agreed performance metrics. This requires the individual to partner with the BPO and Vendor Account Manager to ensure execution and delivery of goals. The Sr. Credit Manager WECA will also be the subject matter expert across EMEA Credit Services for some sales channels in our matrix structure
§ Controls, Compliance & Accounting – The Senior WECA Credit Manager will have co-accountability for the Control and Compliance of all processes within the EMEA Credit Services organisation for maintaining SOX Compliance.The candidate will be responsible for ensuring credit risk is appropriately managed and accounted for as per accounting policy, including input to the determination of probability of collections to ensure compliance with SOP 97-2
§ Cross-Boundary collaboration – Participate and lead global projects and drive engagement with peers in the WW Credit Services organisation. Be the subject matter expert for EMEA for one or many sales channels
Contacts:

This position has frequent contact with executive management, multiple levels of Microsoft employees and managers within Regional HQ. Primary internal interaction is with Business Management Teams, Regional Controllers, Sales Management, Legal and Corporate Affairs, Finance/Treasury, and WW Credit Services. The position also has frequent contact with customers and vendors.

 

Essential Requirements:
§ A minimum of 6-8 years of demonstrated work experience, preferably with a multinational company
§ Excellent leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills. Must be able to communicate effectively and work well in a team environment
§ Must be able to work cross boundaries and influence key decision makers. The candidate must be able to see and maintain the big picture, identifying and evaluating opportunities for cross-group win-win collaboration
§ Experience in working in a customer facing environment with an ability to understand customer needs and manage expectations
§ Strong attention to detail and willing to roll up sleeves and get the work done
§ Candidate should thrive in an environment of working towards ambitious goals and targets and be held accountable
§ Knowledge of Risk Assessment and Financial Statement analysis
§ Change management and process improvement experience
§ Strong negotiating and influencing skills required
§ Ability to demonstrate strong internal control mindset required
§ A degree in Business or Finance/Accounting/Economics or similar is required (BComm, BBS, etc)

 

Desirable Requirements:
Experience in working in a Credit function
A second Langauge ideally French
Experience in leveraging Business Process Outsourcing solutions
MBA or equivalent
People management experience
SAP knowledge a plus
