Vacancy Details

Job Purpose:

To assist in the management of all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures. The Junior Quantity Surveyor seeks to minimize the costs of a project and enhance value for money while still achieving the required standards and quality.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Estimations and Planning:

• • Assist in the preparation of initial cost estimates and budgets.
  • Participate in cost planning and control processes throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Perform cost analysis and assist in tracking project expenditures.

Tendering Process:

• • Assist in the preparation of tender documentation.
  • Analyze and compare contractor and subcontractor quotations.
  • Participate in tender evaluation and negotiations.

Contract Administration:

• • Assist in the preparation and administration of contracts.
  • Monitor contract compliance and manage contract variations.
  • Assist in the resolution of any contractual disputes.

Project Management Support:

• • Support the Senior QS and project team in day-to-day project management tasks.
  • Assist in the preparation of progress reports and project updates.
  • Participate in site visits and inspections to monitor progress and compliance.

Financial Management:

• • Assist in preparing interim valuations and final accounts.
  • Support the monitoring and management of project cash flow.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and cost reports.

Documentation and Record Keeping:

• • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project records and documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of project documentation for handover and final account settlement.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and company policies.

Candidate Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.

Skills and Competencies:

• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in relevant software (WinQS, Candy)
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of construction methods and materials.
