Molteno Institute for Language and Literacy (The Institute) is a South African literacy NGO based in Johannesburg with footprints in some provinces and the African continent. The Institute is part of an education consortium selected to implement USAID funded Literacy Project in the Northwest and Limpopo provinces between 2017 to 2020.

Job Title: Programme Manager
Job Location:  Houghton, Johannesburg
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Duration: Permanent, Full time position

Responsibilities:

  • Build the training and development division (Academy) into a sustainable, efficiently operating program to ensure long term vision of establishing a training and development Institution for Practitioner development
  • Envision, shape and guide programme growth in a way that maximises the Organisation’s footprint in the space of Early Childhood Development; this includes identifying new opportunities and securing new funding partners
  • Ensure the expansion of the Academy’s offering to neighbouring southern African countries, east and west Africa in the long run
  • Establish and run an efficient training and development unit/academy within Molteno
  • Provide strategic support to CEO, Advisory Board and Board of the Institute
  • Implement Quality Management and Assurance Systems
  • Provide project support to stakeholders and funders
  • Establish and implement revenue generating skills development and training programmes
  • Manage stakeholder relations and ensure compliance to legislative requirements
  • Manage and develop high performance teams both at National and Provincial levels

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Masters will be an added advantage
  • Experience in skills development and training sector with at least 5 years in managerial positions
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in non-profit or socially orientated entity with the ability to launch new ideas and generate revenue streams
  • Proven experience as a self-starter requiring no supervision and the ability to work with limited resources. and staff to achieve results.  Must have an entrepreneurial spirit and have a strong desire to succeed
  • Written and spoken communication skills and the ability to speak more than one official South African language
  • Ability to write high-quality proposals, concept notes and pitch documents
  • Ability to write quality reports
  • Possess financial skills and have the ability to draw up budgets and financial reports.
  • Valid Code 8 driver’s license
  • Willingness and availability to travel extensively
  • Integrity, professionalism, positive attitude, self-directed, mission-directed
  • Proven track record of working successfully within teams
