Job mission

• Tactical management of total remuneration and benefits programmes for local
employees across the Group’s including their terms and conditions of
employment.
• Deploys Group remuneration and benefits strategy through the effective
management of related programmes within regions and OUs
• Ensures that local remuneration and benefits are competitively packaged and
aligned to the Group Reward Philosophy.
• Consults with key stakeholders and advises line managers on group strategies
policies and benchmarks.
• Serves as subject matter expert, internal business consultant and advisor to
regional and in-country reward professionals

KPA duties

Task Complexity:
• Interpretation of Group reward philosophy and strategies to effect sound and
practical solutions
• Professional interaction with internal and external stakeholders
• Advising regions and operations on remuneration and benefits policies and
practices
• Initiating and recommending strategic programmes to address and support key
business drivers
• Accountable for functional and business process models and outcomes in
support of programmes
• Intensive analyses and comprehension of remuneration and benefits market
practices in all operations
• Researches, prepares and submits business motivations via General Manager /
Group Executive to Exco’s and remuneration committees at group and regional
level.
• Advise OU management on effective remuneration and benefit programs and
policies.
• Design and development of programmes for the effective application of policies,
budgets and methods.
• Interact with local and international operations to facilitate the achievement of
remuneration and benefit objectives.
• Set parameters to adhere to Group Business Risk Management guidelines
and frameworks in administration.
• Knowledge and understanding of global trends in the remuneration and benefits
sector.
• Involved in the management of International Expatriate Remuneration such
bonuses and increase mandates across the Group

Supervisory / Leadership / Managerial Complexity:
• Advises Executives, VPs, CEOs and senior management in terms of
remuneration and benefits function.
• Interacts with Exco’s and remuneration committees at group and regional level.
• Provides advice and guidance to regions on MTN Group Remuneration policies
and processes
• Liaise with external consultants on remuneration benchmarks and best practice.
• Provides professional review of proposals and subject matter to regions and
OUs
• Prepares management reports and recommendations.
• Manage functional administrative and support teams
• Knowledge and understanding of global, regional and local trends in the
remuneration and benefits sector.

Role Complexity:
• Knowledge and understanding of regional and global economic indexes
• Assessment of technology systems to support remuneration and benefits
programmes
• Awareness of governance and approval protocols
• Negotiates with key internal and external stakeholders.
• Practical understanding and application of income tax legislation

Educational requirements

• Tertiary Qualification in Human Resources, Finance and or Business
Management
• Post graduate business or functional qualification an advantage
• Knowledge of business finance and fundamentals
• Certification as Global Remuneration Professional
• Sound practical knowledge of the HR function

Experience required

• At least 7 years remuneration and benefits experience at a management or
senior consultant level
• Management of total reward portfolio
• Engaging with stakeholders especially Remuneration Committees and other
governance structures
• Leading employees and functional and multi-disciplinary teams
• Strategic and tactical execution of projects, assignments and day-to-day
activities
