Networking HIV& AIDS Community of Southern Africa (NACOSA), a dynamic NGO in the HIV, AIDS, TB and gender-based violence (GBV) field, is inviting suitably qualified candidates within South Africa for the Communications Officer position based in Cape Town. NACOSA as a networking organisation that brings communities together to tackle HIV and its impact on vulnerable people. Job Title: Communications Specialist

Job Summary:

The Communications Specialist will support the Head of Communications in the execution of the content, PR and media strategies to amplify our work and raise the voices of marginalized people across South Africa. We are looking for a Stellar individual with exceptional verbal and written skills to support a digitally savvy strategic communications plan.

Key performance areas:

CONTENT AND CAMPAIGN DEVELOPMENT:
Contribute creatively to the development of communications and content plans for programmes and advocacy campaigns.
Source success stories and case studies and interview programme staff, partners and beneficiaries.
Draft copy for website/s, press releases, social media, newsletters, video or radio scripts.
Support the sourcing and administration of photography, videography, merchandise, design and printing suppliers.
Develop content calendars and upload content to social media and the website.
Create digital and other content for use across NACOSA’s communications channels.

MEDIA LIASON:
Monitor digital, print and broadcast media to identify suitable marketing and business development opportunities for NACOSA.
Develop and maintain relationships with relevant media.
Coordinate media interviews and briefings of NACOSA spokespeople.
Collate coverage of NACOSA or its programmes.
Conduct social listening activities for NACOSA and its programmes.

ADVOCACY AND INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS:
Drive communications and advocacy within NACOSA and its network.
Provide communications support and coordination at NACOSA networking events and campaigns.
Provide guidance, input and advice into NACOSA and network advocacy campaigns.
Draft copy for internal communications bulletins.
Contribute to the development of internal communications plans and campaigns.

Requirements:
Required qualifications, skills and experience

A Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or related field.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in communications, marketing and/or public relations.
Demonstrable experience and success in digital marketing, including social media content creation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
Fluent in English and another South African language (written and verbal).
Advanced Word and PowerPoint skills and competent in Excel.
Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite and the WordPress content management system would be an advantage.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
Be creative, solutions-oriented and self-motivated, with the ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Experience of health and behaviour change communications and messaging would be an advantage.
Be willing to travel nationally on occasion.

Remuneration will be competitive, based on skills and experience.
