The National Agricultural Marketing Council was established in terms of the MAP Act No. 47 of 1996, as amended by Act No 59 of 1997 and Act No. 52 of 2001. We provide strategic advice to the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries on the marketing of agricultural products.
Composition of the Council is represented by members across the sector. Its mandate is that off advising the Minister on matters relating to statutory measures, agricultural marketing policy and reporting on the performance of the NAMC.

The committee is delegated with the responsibility to ensure fairness and equity strives at the NAMC. Its upmost task is that of reviewing Human Resources policies and advising Council on steps taken to implement the HR Charter.

We are offering a one year internship for an agricultural economist position.

REQUIREMENTS
 An Honors Degree in Agricultural Economics or appropriate Degree. A Master’s Degree in Agricultural Field will be an added advantage

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
 Provide effective and timely research support to specific projects / programmes and develop well researched sections of /and reports
 Assist with data gathering, interpretation and analysis of data
 Conduct literature reviews on agricultural economics related topics
 Liaison with relevant stakeholders on issues pertaining to agriculture
 Assist with the identification of one commodity with local market opportunity
 Identify potential producer group to supply the market as required
 Assist with design of the scheme and produce a document
 Coordinate and facilitate linkages between the emerging producers, buyers of agricultural produce in order to achieve Government’s objectives
 Produce projects / programmes reports
 Custom Feeding Program (CFP), Livestock Auctions
 Direct sales (formal and informal)
 Pre-slaughter agreement program (PAP), Farmer engagement programs
 Landscaping and grounds maintenance
 designing displays, cultivating gardens and indoor displays
 Maintenance and use of irrigation systems and plant biology.
 Managing pest, disease and weed control programmes, commensurate with hygiene and health standards
 Identifying technical and business problems, investigating the causes and formulating solutions
