The above mentioned positions are available in the Heritage Department at Robben Island Museum.

(12 MONTHS CONTRACT)

These positions seek to broaden knowledge of nature conservation and give hands-on experience to young graduates from Nature Conservation academic background.

Key performance areas:

  • Assist with planning and implementation of environmental projects i.e. alien plants control, problem animal control, coastal clean-ups, controlled burn projects, rehabilitation projects, etc.
  • Assist with policy development and EIA processes.
  • Participate on the ongoing research programmes i.e. vegetation assessment, endangered sea bird monitoring, etc and collection of data.
  • Assist with the observation, managing and protection of marine, mammals, insects and plants population of Robben Island and its surrounding zone.
  • Assist with the Unit’s administrative duties.
  • Assist with the supervision of the Horticultural Team.

Experience and Technical Skills:

  • National Diploma in Nature Conservation.
  • Computer literacy
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Communication and leadership skills
