Online Editor Opportunity at Foxley Media 2017

Foxley Media provides comprehensive, authoritative and up-to-date destination information for business travellers, holidaymakers and expatriates.

International travel organisations and relocation companies rely on us to inform and educate staff and clients and inspire potential customers. Products include Word Travels, Expat Arrivals and Climate and Weather.

Foxley Media is looking for a junior online editor to join our small editorial team in the Cape Town City Bowl on a contract basis. The successful candidate will work where needed on two of our travel-related websites, which attract more than 500,000 visitors each month.

The successful candidate will be provided with a computer and will be based in our Cape Town offices and expected to work 40 hours per week. This position would be well suited to a recent graduate in a relevant field looking to gain experience in online publishing and CMS.

The job involves: 

• Assisting in the creation of an email management system prior to the launch of our newsletters.
• Conducting research on the various travel and expat related topics.
• Writing and editing content for Foxley Media’s websites.
• Fact-checking information to ensure the guides are relevant and accurate.
• Assisting with the management of Foxley Media’s social media networks.

Requirements:

• It is vital that you are computer-savvy and experienced at researching info on the web.
• You must have an excellent eye for detail, a talent for writing and a mind for editorial rigour.
• You must have an excellent command of the English language.
• You must have a good ability to work independently with strong time management skills.
• You must have a demonstrable ability to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks.

Advantageous skills:

• A relevant tertiary education.
• Online writing and CMS experience, as well as an understanding of SEO.
• As the work relates to international destinations, it would be a bonus if you have travelled.
