Kimberley Underground Mines JV is situated in the town of Kimberley in the Northern Cape. The mine consists of 3
conventional slushier drift block cave mines.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Applications are invited from suitably qualified applicants who will be responsible to effectively
lead and manage the mechanical engineering function of underground mines and process plants; ensuring full
compliance with all relevant legislation and strategic business plans.

Tasks and Responsibilities:
 Manage large multi-disciplinary teams
 Enforce engineering standards and maintenance
 Support business units and liaise with stake holders
 Prepare and manage budgets
 Ensure performance of teams
 Ensure compliance to Legislation

Minimum Requirements:
 Valid Trade Test certificate as Fitter and Turner
 Minimum N4 qualification in Mechanical Engineering
 Valid drivers’ license
 8 years’ experience in underground mines, vertical shafts, winders and ancillary equipment
 5 years’ experience as a foreman
 Construction, equipment installation and maintenance experience
 DMS Plant, washing and screening plant experience

Other Skills/Competencies:
 Must be able to apply RCA, RCM, ROI and NPV to align OEE with the strategic business plan
 Must be performance driven, analytical and a motivator with strong assertive management skills
 Ability to plan, organize and prioritize
