Job Title: MANAGER OF ENGINEERING – POLOKWANE

Reports to:                Office Manager – Polokwane

Primary Objective

The manager of Engineering will report directly to the regional manager and will work closely with other functional leaders in the company and specifically the Limpopo region.  The “Manager of Engineering” is responsible for all the region’s engineering activities around project execution

 

Specific Accountabilities

  • Technical Expertise: Critical to have experience in and understanding on the following:
    • Drawings
    • Quality assurance systems and compliance of all engineering related work
    • Health Safety And Environmental Policies
    • Technical knowledge in engineering field (Infrastructure)
    • General conditions of contract specifications (GCC, FIDIC, NEC, JBCC)
    • Standard Technical Specifications
  • Human Resources:
    • Manage a team of engineers including civil, mechanical, electrical, process
    • Manage outsourced suppliers and sub consultants
    • Assign, direct and evaluate team work
    • Oversee the development and maintenance of engineering staff competence
  • Project Execution:
    • Discuss and signing off and approval of project specifications
    • Direct, review and approve project designs in accordance with Quality policies
  • Client Liaison:
    • Present and explain proposals, reports and findings to clients
    • Consult and negotiate with clients
  • Nature of Projects:
    • Civil engineering infrastructure (water, sewer, roads, structures)
    • Mechanical engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Mining and Minerals related infrastructure
Job Requirements

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Track record of managing multi-discipline design teams
  • Experience of front-end development work
  • Proven ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Proven ability and willingness to manage the schedule and to meet agreed deadlines
  • High level of understanding of management of interfaces across multi-functional groups
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proven team builder
  • Excellent report writing skills and able to effectively communicate and document events

Matching Indicators

  • Engineering degree, preferably civil or structural
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer with ECSA
