Reports to: Branch Manager

Summation: 
The Chief Teller reports to the Branch Manager and is responsible for:
• customer service
• supervision and management of production and auxiliary staff
• operational management,
• financial- and stock management
• housekeeping

 

Key Responsibilities
• The successful incumbent will be responsible for:
• Financial and stock management
• Staff Management
• Operational management:

  • o Determine and forecast work volumes and plan workflows in all branch work areas
  • o Ensure that office equipment and systems are operational
  • o Determine staff requirements and schedule staff
  • o Prepare and analyse operational reports
  • o Ensure that business focussed trading hours are offered
  • • Ensure effective customer services by:
  • o Constantly providing high level of customer service
  • o Manage queues according to set standards
  • o Ensure good housekeeping
  • o Prompt resolving of written/verbal queries

 

Requirements/ Knowledge

• Grade 12 or NQF4
• Diploma with Financial, Banking or Operational Management focus or NQF 5 equivalent will be an added advantage
• Level B drivers license will be an added
• 3- 4 years operational experience in consumer services.
• Supervisory/management experience within a Post Office Branch will be an advantage
• Operational process and policies
• Relevant operational knowledge
• Knowledge of stock and cash management
• Fulfill the terms of FAIS, any related legislation or regulation and any guidelines or regulations issued by the Financial Services Board
• Operational system knowledge
• Product knowledge
• POS and Post Office specific system knowledge
• Knowledge of all relevant legislation (e.g. FICA, FAIS, PFMA, OHSA etc.) – if applicant do not comply, this may
be regarded as a development area
• General knowledge of contracts and SLAs
• Knowledge of staff and resource management
• Ability to deal with grievance and disciplinary matters
• Knowledge of basic financial management
• Knowledge of customer services management
• Internal policies and procedures
• Knowledge of internal SLAs
• Work study principles
