Job Description
Reporting to the Manager, you will fulfill the necessary requirements within the SKD Engineering Department to meet the Company’s objectives:
Key Job Functions
Safety – Ensure compliance to company SHE standards for new facilities, equipment, tooling & systems
Condition Monitoring – must be able to monitor the condition of equipment & machinery, implement and conduct pro-active troubleshooting methods.
Implement activities for the reduction of engineering related defects – must be able to initiate root cause analysis and implement countermeasures to prevent re-occurrences and improvements.
Project Management – Manage and lead new Projects from planning stage through to implementation and handover to Production
Costing and Planning – Must be able to monitor cost and introduce necessary cost reduction activities. Must also be able to accurately establish costing for input into product brief reply for budget approval
Stable Production – Improve operational and quality efficiencies
Implement Quality control systems for section
Adherence to Company ISO requirements and Toyota standards
Assists in the training & guidance of production members
Prepares documents & presentations
A x W activities, Menken activity
Co-ordinate cross functional in support of ECI’s, Engineering Change Instructions, of body and process accuracy, process improvements, quality improvements, productivity improvements, general kaizen
Establish and co-ordinate the maintenance of process parameters.
Problem analysis and solving.
Set work standards.
Carry out activities detailed in the Production Engineering operational plan and trial operational plan prior to volume production
Qualifications and Experience
B.Sc or B Tech Degree (NQF 6 360 credits) in Mechanical Engineering or
National Diploma (S4) with +3 yrs post qualification experience.
B.Sc or Btech (Mechanical) or equivalent engineering qualification or
National Diploma (S4) with +-3 yrs post qualification experience
Good technical knowledge of a weld plant control system.
Good working knowledge of production systems,
Knowledge of ISO 9000 and ISO 14001 requirements
High level of computer literacy
Shift work, overtime, stand-by and shutdown
Weld Plant experience would be advantageous
