PRINCIPAL LIBRARIAN 2 POSTS REF NO: 14/314/CS
SALARY : R227 802 – R268 338 per annum. The successful candidate will be required to sign a performance agreement.
CENTRE : National Office, Pretoria

REQUIREMENTS : A National Diploma/ Degree in Library science/ Information Science or equivalent
qualification; 2 years’ experience in library and information system; Skills and
Competencies: Communication skills (verbal and written); Report writing skills;
Supervision and leadership skills; Computer Literacy (MS Office, Internet (Juta
Stat and Lexis Nexis); Research and planning skills; Problem solving and
planning skills; Creative and analytical thinking skills; Customer service
orientation; Assertiveness and decisiveness.

DUTIES : Key Performance Areas: Coordinate orientation, training and development of
library interns, Judge Law clerks, library staff exchange programme researchers;
Develop and maintain library catalogue, accession of new materials, and data
clean-up of local fields using inmagic database management system.;
Responsible for the classification, cataloguing of material and indexing of
government publications, etc; Maintain Government publications collection of
national signification-including the identification, acquisition and subscription,

classification and cataloguing of the material; Provide effective people
management.
