Principal Librarian x 3 Positions

PRINCIPAL LIBRARIAN 3 POSTS REF NO: 15/01/CS
SALARY : R227 802 – R268 338 per annum. The successful candidate will be required to
sign a performance agreement
CENTRE : National Office, Pretoria

REQUIREMENTS : A National Diploma/ Degree in Library science/ Information Science or equivalent
qualification; 2 years’ experience in library and information system; A valid
Driver’s license skills and competencies: Communication skills (verbal and
written); Report writing skills; Supervision and leadership skills; Computer
Literacy (MS Office, Internet (Juta Stat and Lexis Nexis); Research and planning
skills; Problem solving and planning skills; Creative and analytical thinking skills;
Customer service orientation; Assertiveness and decisiveness.

DUTIES : Develop library systems, guides to users and electronic access as well as
subscriptions; Coordinate planning and development of library interns, judges,
law clerk, library staff, exchange programme researchers; Responsible for the
classification, cataloguing of material and indexing of government publications, etc. Maintain Government publications collection of national significationincluding
the identification, acquisition and subscription, classification and
cataloguing of the material. Establish and maintain Government publications
collection of national significance; Provide effective people management.
