The Customer Business Development (CBD) department represents P&G products with our retail and distributor partners to build their business with P&G brands to enable P&G’s brands to succeed in the market place.

It is more than mere “selling” it’s a P&G specific approach which enables us to grow our business by working as a “strategic partner” (as opposed to just a supplier) with those who ultimately sell our products to consumers.

The successful candidate will need to identify how to help build customers’ business, convince the customer that these proposals are right for their business and then bring them to life in the market. Access to all P&G’s resources will be provided to support in making this happen.

In this role, the candidate will influence P&G customer’s decisions in critical business areas by using conceptual selling techniques and data-based presentations. For consumer accounts, this involves developing assortment, shelving, pricing, and merchandising strategies, based on consumer research that gives P&G insight into what drives shopper purchasing behaviour.

Training and coaching will commence from day one in the company to enable new hires to succeed in their job assignments and to start their long term development. New hire learning programs in P&G include a structured training program for the first weeks in the company and on-the-job coaching which is complimented with milestone corporate and functional training programs.

The starting location and long term career base will be Johannesburg with International assignments and training opportunities available depending on performance and how each career develops.

Customer Business Development offers increased responsibility at each level. The length of each assignment is based on each individual abilities and the opportunities available in each country, of which there are many.

When you demonstrate the ability to handle more challenging work, you’ll be given assignments with larger, more complex accounts or that offer increased responsibility.

Any new assignment will be designed to help you improve your skills and prepare you for opportunities to build business and lead people.

Summary of Job Requirements:
Minimum education of Bachelor Degree and/or Honours Degree with good academic results.
Strong leadership skills and excellent communication skills.
Good command of English
Travel to local customers at least 40% of time.
