Finance Section
SALARY : R532 278 – R627 000 per annum (All inclusive package) 24 months contract Position
CENTRE : Pretoria

 

REQUIREMENTS : B.Com / B.Compt degree with articles. B.Com honors, CTA or CA will be an
advantage. The successful incumbent should possess 8 years experience in an
Accounting environment of which 3 years relevant experience as a manager.
Previous Management Accounting experience will be an advantage. ACCPAC,
Project accounting and Persal knowledge will be an advantage. Advanced
financial, accounting and reporting skills. Understanding of business imperatives
around financial management. Analytical. Attention to detail. Results orientated.
Deadline driven. Decisive and objective judgement. Proven problem solving
ability. Ability to prioritise urgent matters. Self-motivated. Confidentiality.
Continuous improvement and quality orientation. Good interpersonal relations.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

 

DUTIES : The project accountant position is accountable for monitoring the progress of
projects, investigating variances, approving expenses, ensuring that project
billings are issued to customers and payments collected, the classification of cost
on projects and budgeting for projects. The incumbent will ensure Project
Accounting system produces accurate results timeously and will produce
periodical Management reports, as well as provide value-financial services to all
the business units of GPAA. The primary responsibilities of these positions
include, but are not limited to, the following: Prepare the budget for the
modernization project. Maintain project related records including contracts and
change orders. Create project accounts in the accounting system and authorize
access to these accounts. Monitor the progress of projects in the Finance
Section. Maintain accuracy in cash expenditure data and ensure that controls are
followed. Provide information about internal distribution of finance information by
interpreting the data. Review and approve supplier invoices related to projects.
Investigate project variances and submit variance report to management. Assist
project managers with monthly or quarterly forecast and annual budget analysis.
Compile information relating to projects for internal and external auditors. Prepare
ad-hoc reports as required by the project management or the Finance Section
