Position Overview

Market leader in Technology (development & integration) offers an exciting opportunity for a project manager to join the team.

The successful candidate will have 5+ years’ project management experience in a professional services or software development environment including any of the following:

• Be familiar with SDLC and methodologies like Agile, KANBAN, etc.
• Be familiar with project management methodologies like PMBOK, Prince II, etc.
• Must be able to operate in a business (client) facing capacity as well as to lead and direct projects at a steering committee level. Must be able to make decisions within a given and understood mandate.
Candidates with BEng Industrial & Systems Engineering or Electrical/Electronic Engineering or B.Com Informatics (honors), BSc Computer Science, BSc IT, will be considered. Relevant Project Management qualification required. Previous experience in the supply chain domain a plus.

 

Specific Role Responsibilities

This role requires experience working in the software solutions and Business Intelligence environments, coordinating stakeholders across clients and partners. Apart from pure project management capabilities this role is most effective where the project manager participates in the content delivery as well. This role must be able to identify risks to the project and to the solution and identify mitigation solutions plus embed those into the delivery cycle. It is expected that this role is able to steer delivery in accordance with project and client objectives, and be able to prioritize these where necessary and manage stakeholder expectations accordingly.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

– Degrees (one or more of):
o BSc. Computer Science;
o BEng. Industrial & Systems Engineering or Electrical/Electronic Engineering;
o B.Com Informatics with honours in computer science or informatics.

And

– Formal Project Management Qualifications (one of):
o Project Manager Professional or
o PRINCE II or
o Other equivalent.

 

Experience:

The successful candidate will have experience in the following:
1. Be familiar with SDLC and methodologies like Agile, KANBAN, etc.;
2. Be familiar with project management methodologies like PMBOK, Prince II, etc.;
3. Must be able to operate in a business (client) facing capacity as well as to lead and direct projects at a steering committee level. Must be able to make decisions within a given and understood mandate;
4. Exposure to a variety of technologies;
5. Business & systems analysis;
6. Applying project management standards and methodologies;
7. Experience in a range of industries (FMCG, Financial, Mining, etc.)
8. Must have experience in Business Intelligence solutions design, build, implementation, support and quality assurance processes;
9. Must be able to converse with clients, senior developers, systems architects and business executives during the project lifecycle;
10. Must be able to converse with contract managers where project scope is impacted and vice versa;

 

Skills and Personal Attributes Skills:

– Be familiar with SDLC and methodologies like Agile, KANBAN, etc.;
– Be familiar with project management methodologies like PMBOK, Prince II, etc.;
– Must be able to operate in a business (client) facing capacity as well as to lead and direct projects at a steering committee level. Must be able to make decisions within a given and understood mandate;
– Exposure to a variety of technologies;
– Business & systems analysis;
– Applying project management standards and methodologies as defined by the company;
– Must have experience in systems design, build, implementation, support and quality assurance processes;
– Must be able to converse with clients, senior developers, systems architects and business executives during the project lifecycle;
– Appreciation of cost and revenue drivers that influence project profitability;
– Able to frequently and effectively report project progress to multiple levels (internally and externally) without direction and escalate high impact risks proactively.
