SUN MeDIA Stellenbosch is offering a Publishing Internship. The programme will run for 6 months and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain valuable publishing industry experience.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A Postgraduate Degree in Publishing (or similar)
  • Accuracy and thoroughness
  • Attention to detail
  • The ability to work under pressure
  • Organisational skills
  • Communication skills (English and Afrikaans)
  • Computer skills (especially in Adobe CS/CC and Microsoft Office – non-negotiable)
  • Language Editing Skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
THE CANDIDATE WILL BE INVOLVED IN THE FOLLOWING PROCESSES
Design and layout of publications in Adobe InDesign
Editorial work on journals and publications including proofreading
Packaging journals and publications for online distribution (PDF, XML, HTML & EPUB)
Assisting in the publication process, including:
― Evaluating manuscripts
― The peer review process
― Production planning and scheduling and
― Marketing and distribution
LOCATION
The successful candidate will work at SUN MeDIA Stellenbosch for 6 months. If theinternship is
completed successfully, there is a possibility of employment.
REPORTS TO
General Manager: Publishing & Operations
Given the employment equity policy of the company, preference will be given to suitable candidates from designated groups. SUN MeDIA reserves the right not to fill the position.
