Quality Controller Job Vacancy at Distell

We require the services of a QUALITY CONTROLLER reporting to the Quality Services Manager, QMR. This position does not involve laboratory work and although based in Parow, this is a Regional position and the incumbent will be required to travel alone from time to time.

Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:

Ensure that the Southern Region Distribution Centres comply with Distell’s National Quality Policies and Procedures.
Ensure that all DCs, TX and Sales staff in the Southern Region is knowledgeable on the Distell Quality Management requirements and standards. Conduct training where necessary.
Visit DC’s to evaluate and assist with the implementation of Quality policies / principles e.g. stock rotation, storage conditions etc.
Ensure that the company’s Trade Return Policy is correctly executed.
Address specific quality issues as they arise.
Monitor the quality of stock as received from Secondary Production and initiate corrective actions if required.
Manage all quality related customer/consumer complaints.
Perform customer visits to assess the quality of stock in the trade and initiate corrective actions where required.
Identify and drive the rotation / selling out of slow moving products.
Pro-actively assist in the management of culled products.
Co–ordinate Write-off’s and disposal of Non Conforming products
Assist in problem-solving.
Analyse relevant data, compiling of Quality reports and perform administrative duties.
Work closely with the Regional Logistics Planning department.
Assist the Region in the management of the Quality Management System.

The successful candidate must have the following experience/skills:
Ability to understand and implement processes.
Ability to identify and solve problems.
Ability to influence management to adhere to processes.
Ability to perform Distribution and QMS audits and follow up on findings.
Ability to manage projects independently and as part of a team.
Must be structured, meticulous and display attention to detail
Good communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work under pressure.
Computer literate with MS office (Intermediate level) and SAP.
A valid drivers licence
An appropriate tertiary qualification in a Quality Management, Scientific or Food and Beverage related field
2-3 years experience in a similar work environment.
