Rand Water Trainees Recruitment x 3000 Positions

Rand Water has responded to the mandate to train and develop unemployed youth across various municipalities across the country and equip them with skills across three (3) disciplines i.e. Plumbing, Artisans, and Water Agents.

The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) has initiated the War on Leaks project through Rand Water as an implementing agent.

This Presidential Project is one of a number of initiatives aimed at confronting the water loss issue across the country.

For the Phase 1 2015/2016 intake, Rand Water is looking for 3000 young, energetic and results-driven youth for development.

The individual must be a team player who is customer focused and has an ability to communicate well at all levels

Primary project objectives:

To decrease water leaks (water losses minimisation) by providing relevant technical skills

To improve overall water use efficiency within municipalities, households and communities

To organise and provide training to local communities

To raise awareness and engender an appreciation by communities of water use, water conservation and the impact on the environment.

During the training, trainees will be expected to successfully demonstrate knowledge and skills according to the outcomes of the training programmes.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and unemployed youth in the following disciplines with the listed requirements:

Plumbers:

• Grade 12 with Mathematics & Science / N3 with Mathematics & Science
• The incumbent must have passed mathematics not mathematics literacy
• Relevant technical subjects will be advantageous
• 36 months duration

Artisans:

Grade 12 with Mathematics & Science / N3 with Mathematics & Science

The incumbent must have passed mathematics not mathematics literacy

Relevant technical subjects will be advantageous:

 

• Instrumentation
• Electrical
• Fitter & Turner
• Welding
• 36 months duration

 

Water Agents:

• Minimum Standard 8-10 /Grade 10-12
• Mathematics & Science will be advantageous
• Good communication skills
• Must be able to relate and interact well with customers/clients
• Must be passionate about the environment and water conservation
• 36 months duration

In making the final selection, preference will be given to the following important criteria:

• Applicants must be unemployed

• Applicants must have a suitable qualification

• Applicants in the context of the Employment Equity Act

• Applicants must be South African citizens and must be in possession of a valid South African ID

• Applicants must be under the age of 35 (aligned with the NSDS III) Application must contain the following documents (incomplete applications will not be considered).
