REFUGEE RECEPTION OFFICER 2 POSTS REF NO: HRMC 45/14/19
SALARY : R148 584 to R175 023 per annum (Level 6). In addition, a range of competitive

CENTRE : KwaZulu-Natal: Durban Refugee Reception Centre.

REQUIREMENTS : Equity Requirements: Coloured, Indian Male / Female and White Male
candidates are encouraged to apply • A Grade 12 Certificate with relevant
experience in a customer service environment or related field • A tertiary
qualification at NQF level 6 in International Relations / Social Sciences and
Public Administration will be an added advantage • Knowledge of the Immigration
Act, Refugee Act, South African Refugee Act • Knowledge of International
Conventions and Protocols relating to status of refugees • Good verbal and
written communication skills • Client oriented • Honesty and Integrity • Computer
literacy is essential • A valid driver’s licence may be an added advantage •
Preference will be given to candidates from the local area where the post is located.

 

DUTIES : The successful candidate will be responsible for, amongst others, the following
specific tasks: • Receive asylum seekers and conduct Pre-Interviews • Open files
for asylum seekers and capture bio-data requirements • Assist the applicants
with filing BI 1590 forms • Receive applications for refugees travel documents
and identity document • Issue and extend Temporary Asylum Seeker Permits •
Schedule asylum seekers’ status determination hearings • Ensure that all
necessary documentation or any evidence is submitted and verify the validity and
authenticity of all original documents • Ensure that information received from
Asylum seekers are captured correctly.
