The Human Sciences Research Council has been commissioned to coordinate the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) platform for a programme of awards by the Conrad N Hilton Foundation to organizations in southern and eastern Africa to protect and promote the development of young children affected by HIV and AIDS. They seek to appoint a suitably qualified person to work closely with the data collection and implementation team on the project.
With the support of the Conrad N Hilton Foundation, 16 international NGOs in 5 countries are implementing a range of interventions to improve services, advocacy and policy for young children in families affected by HIV and AIDS. The HSRC is using a range of innovative approaches, including mobile technology, to coordinate and augment the service provision, monitoring and evaluation activities of programmes.
The Research Assistant will provide daily support to the Project Manager and core team. The position is for a period of 24 months and the incumbent should be available to commence as soon as possible. The successful candidate will be based in Durban.
Provide daily support to the Project Manager and core team;
Responsible for planning, organizing and scheduling of project activities and administrative duties;
Undertake any other related research tasks assigned by the Project Manager
Organise meetings, workshops and conferences, prepare power point presentations, produce minutes and assist with dissemination activities.
A Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or Social Sciences;
Demonstrated computer literacy;
Sound written and verbal communication skills;
The capacity to work under pressure and to work after hours if required;
Excellent interpersonal, organisational, administrative and problem solving skills;
The ability to work accurately and independently;
The ability and enthusiasm to engage as a team player
Intellectual and personal integrity, a well developed work ethic, and drive.
