Minimum Requirements

Qualifications
• Diploma in General Nursing

 

Experience
• 3 – 5 years’ experience as a General Nurse

 

Job Specification

KEY PERFOMANCE AREAS (Not limited to):
Primary Health Care

• Consults with employees on a continuous basis regarding healthcare
• Ensures adherence to policies and procedures and nursing standards
• Provides counselling and health education to staff
• Ensures that chronic illnesses are controlled
• Provides required treatment to employees and dispenses medication according to recognized nursing standards
• Minimized absenteeism
• Ensures appointments / referrals are made to medical practitioners
• Co-ordinates required laboratory / pathology testing by ensuring that correct samples are sent to the laboratory and that feedback is presented to relevant employees
• Replenishes first aid boxes
• Assist in the management of Injury on Duty cases.

 

Education/Preventative Programmes

• Knowledge of awareness/health days through health awareness topics and health awareness posters in line with the health calendar
• Communicate & coordinate awareness/health days in line with the health calendar
• Liaison with patients & other medical practitioners According to nursing & health standards on continuous bases
• Ensure that chronic illnesses are controlled
• Offer correct counselling on preventative measures on continuous bases

 

Administration

• Ensures that correct record keeping is maintained at all times
• Monitor and report on absenteeism figures
• Ensures that a filing system is maintained of all medical examinations conducted.
• Compiles reports on Primary health care stats
• Captures all information in a database and checks for trends
• Places orders for medication and controls stock levels
• Ensures all first aid boxes are replenished
Completes and submits all required documentation in correct format and timelines

 

Risk Management
• Responsible for complying with applicable legislation, SABN policies, standards and laid down procedures, including control procedures aimed at mitigating risks
