The South African Federation for Mental Health (SAFMH) is an NGO that aims to coordinate, monitor and promote services for persons with intellectual disability, psychosocial disability, as well as to promote mental health and wellbeing for all South Africans.

Job Title: Mental Health Trainer
Job Location: Ferndale, Johannesburg
Salary: Packages will be determined based on experience and qualifications

The purpose of the position is to provide direction, expertise, and leadership in the successful management and implementation of SAFMH’s ‘mental health in the workplace’ programme. The ‘mental health in the workplace’ programme aims at increasing the awareness of mental health issues in organisations and generating income for SAFMH.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct mental health needs analysis of corporates and organisations and develop proposals and programmes to address these
  • Develop marketing strategy and market SAFMH’s ‘mental health in the workplace’ programme to national corporates
  • Develop partnerships with corporates and organisations to increase the reach of SAFMH’s ‘mental health in the workplace’ programme
  • Design and deliver mental health awareness presentations and workshops to organisations
  • Compile and present reports to inform the work of SAFMH and other stakeholders in the metal health and disability sectors, including recommendations and action plans for the development of new initiatives
  • Conceptualise, plan, develop and present annual business plans for the ‘mental health in the workplace’ programme
  • Manage all accreditation processes of SAFMH training programmes, along with liaison with SETAs

Requirements:

  • Must be vibrant, enthusiastic individual with a proven track record of delivering training and educational programmes to a range of audiences
  • Ability to develop a marketing strategy for the programme and to sign up new clients for the programme
  • Relevant degree such as BA degree in Psychology or Social Work (any additional Marketing qualifications / experience would be advantageous)
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in education and / or training (preferably in the NGO or health sectors in SA)
  • Experience in marketing / sales
  • Knowledge of and experience in SETA accreditation and related processes
  • Experience in training programme design and implementation
  • Experience reporting and action plan development
  • Project management skills are essential
  • Literacy and written and admin skills are essential
  • Communication skills and the ability to liaise with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Experience in strategy development at a national level
  • Experience and knowledge of the mental health and NGO Sectors in South Africa
  • Ability to use initiative and work autonomously
  • Organised, enthusiastic and results driven
  • Valid driver’s license
