OUTPUT/CORE TASKS

1.Work together with SPF and SEB business units and the rest of SPF :

Actuarial on an interdependent basis to ensure that SPF’s products are

up to date financially sound and profitable.

2.Ensure that product decisions are supported by information that:

-Considers the value proposition to clients in light of Treating

Customers Fairly (TCF)

-Is technically correct and is presented clearly

-Links to other results produced within the business unit and

-Considers the products over their entire future in force period and

amongst others take note of the likely impact of solvency 2/SAM/IFRS 4

may/will have on reported profits and return on capital.

3.Be able to indicate and identify discuss and suggest ways to mitigate

risks associated with products.

4.Take ownership of the product bases and the actuarial rules supporting

SPF’s products and provide leadership where these need to be explained

to external and internal parties.

5.Optimise the reinsurance arrangements of Sanlam Life.

6.Strategic thinking so as to provide higher level output to Sanlam’s

entire product delivery processes.

7.People management.

REQUIREMENTS

A. QUALIFICATIONS:-

1.An Actuarial qualification is a requirement.

B. EXPERIENCE:-

1.Minimum two(2) year’s post qualification experience.

2.Previous product development experience would be an advantage.

3.Experience in an actuarial valuation or embedded value reporting

environment would be an advantage.

4.Exposure to underwriting reinsurance distribution and/or other

aspects of product delivery would be an advantage.

C. KNOWLEDGE:-

1.Thorough knowledge of Sanlam’s products would be an advantage.

2.Knowledge of Sanlam’s competitor’s products would be an advantage.
