The purpose of the role is to provide continuous timely, effective, qualitative inputs into financial and business decision-making at a tactical/ operational level and the completion of financial and management accounting reports together with the analysis thereof and the day to day execution of financial related activities.
Required outputs : Functional
Provide input towards implementation and maintenance of best practice accounting frameworks, standards and governance (locally and globally where applicable)
Address ineffective management of the accounting processes in the Business Unit
Provide and present financial and statutory reporting and analysis that is insightful, accurate and timely
Provides guidance to cost centre holders in the compilation of budgets / forecasts
Produce variance analysis between budget, forecast and actuals highlighting potential risks and escalate where necessary
Provide input and execute the development, implementation and improvement of the financial accounting business processes and financial systems in the business
Ensure business processes and systems design alignment with audit and SOX requirements
Calculates and presents product cost using business assumptions
Plans, organises and controls work and project plans
Ensure work and project plans meet technical/professional objectives
Conduct monthly General Ledger reconciliations with necessary follow up actions
Accurate cash flow forecasts presented
Request system changes and enhancements based on business requirements to optimise use and functionality of financial systems
Identify and implement value adding initiatives to be adopted and supported by the business
Liaises with external and internal auditors and co-ordinates reports
Maintain personal culture of accounting compliance in the business
Ensure all processes within responsible areas are documented and current
Shares knowledge, networks and collaborates with colleagues and other teams
Provide Professional communication, behaviour and actions resulting in high levels of credibility, trust and respect throughout the business unit and all stakeholders
Competencies (skills, knowledge and characteristics)
Required outputs : Technical
Minimum 2 years experience in the management accounting environment
Good practical knowledge of management accounting
Financial Control procedures
Generic risk management processes
Audit and control principles
Budgeting / Forecasting and budget control
Internal control procedures
Good knowledge and understanding of requirements of accounting standards and practices
Good practical knowledge of IFRS
Financial Management principles
Being able to effectively apply policies, procedures and work instructions
Working knowledge of operational risk management and internal control methodologies
Job Requirements
Job requirements
Incomplete BCom or BTech (with Accounting 2) with 9 years experience; or
BCom or BTech (with Accounting 2) with 4 years experience; or
BCom Hons with 3 years experience; or
BCom Hons & Articles completed with 1 year experience;
Extensive technical experience in finance and accounting
Experience in financial reporting and consolidations
Working knowledge of SAP
Working knowledge of Excel, Word and Powerpoint
Good basic knowledge of IFRS, Companies Act and Tax
