Position Summary
This advert is to recruit for 2 Construction Safety officers

To facilitate the creation of a world standard construction safety within the Sasol Technology Business, by providing an effective and highly respected consulting and advisory service on projects

• Conduct Construction Management System and Legal Compliance Audits
• Promote SH&E Practices amongst Project Management and Service Providers
• Develop, implement, review and updating systems to control project SHE plans
• Facilitate construction safety risk assessment, PDA on construction sites
• Coordinate transfer of responsibility documents for construction work
• Consultation with Sasol Business Units / Project Management / Service Providers with regards to construction safety aspects on projects
• Ensure Project Management and Service Providers compliance to legal and Sasol requirements
• Safety inputs during contractual phase
• Contractors SH&E plan review and approval
• Generate pro-active plans / actions to reduce incidents or construction delays
• Compiling of safety statistics / month reports / review reports
• Identify safety training needs and development
• Capture construction progress and update of data base and statistics
• Safety inputs during HAZOP and Risk meetings
• Coordinate the Construction safety end of job documentation

Job Requirements
Qualifications and expertise required (Must)
• Grade 12 / Std 10
• SAMTRAC
• Nadsam (wish)
• B.Tech Safety Management (wish)
• Construction safety will be to your advantage
• Knowledge and the application of SH&E Legislation (OHS Act, COID act, Construction Regulations, etc)
• Knowledge of Risk Based Approach to SH&E Construction during the project execution phase
• Knowledge application of Service Providers assessment techniques

General

• Demonstrate technical / functional expertise
• Knowledge of global Safety and Health best practices
• Knowledge of the Service Providers SH&E best practices
• Knowledge of SH&E best practices for Sasol on construction sites
• Incident investigations and problem solving
• Identify safety control requirements and make recommendations to management
• Project Management construction safety
• Modify existing methods or systems to improve the way work gets done

Specific experience required
• ± 3 – 5 years experience in the SH&E field. (Chemical / Construction)
• Sound Knowledge of SH&E management systems, OHSAS 18001, construction safety, ISO, EMS, and systems integration
• Sound Knowledge OHS Act and Construction regulations
