Job Title: Children on the Move Project Officer

Job Location: Limpopo

 

The Children on the Move Project Officer will provide support in terms coordinating the project activities in the Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces. The Project Officer will be responsible for liaising with partners and service providers to ensure timely and quality implementation. This position will also act as the secretariat of a cross-sectoral structure comprising government departments and inter-agency partners.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Key responsibilities

Coordinate the implementation of the Children on the Move project activities in Limpopo/ Mpumalanga:

  • Liaise with and support the consultant responsible for the needs and feasibility study in Limpopo and Mpumalanga;
  • Develop a strategy and work plan with an implementing partner organisation responsible for outreach interventions in Limpopo & Mpumalanga based on the findings of the needs and feasibility study;
  • Identify potential partners to implement the cultural mediator model in Limpopo and Mpumalanga province;
  • Draft Terms of Reference related to the implementation of project activities;
  • Organise meetings with partners to develop work plans and monitor the implementation of activities;
  • Compile progress reports, case studies and human interest stories related to the project implementation.
  • Project budget management – implement project activities in line with the costed annual work-plan plan

Administration of the Steering Committee, inter-agency groups and cross-border working groups:

  • Support the Department of Social Development to organise Steering Committee meetings, draft invitations and minutes, develop concept documents;
  • Support the inter-agency group, update information about new research and events, monitor the joint work plan and coordinate the implementation of joint activities;
  • Organise and participate in joint activities such as capacity-building trainings and community dialogues with inter-agency partners;
  • Work with Save the Children Mozambique and Zimbabwe to organise cross-border working group meetings, draft invitations and minutes, support the facilitation of the meetings.

Provide Trainings and workshop facilitation and coordination

  • Coordinate and facilitate the capacity building trainings/workshops for the Children on the move beneficiaries and Child protection actors to improve the support and services to the USMC
  • Coordinate and facilitate the community dialogues and workshops to support the communities and its stakeholders for social cohesion and protection of migrant’s children

Monitoring of project performance & progress of the annual implementation plan

  • Conducting daily, weekly and monthly project data collection;
  • facilitates and conducts Project Baseline, Mid-line & End line assessments;
  • Project reporting: Develops monthly, quarterly and annual Project implementation progress reports (both narrative & data); Uses Project tools and shares inputs to revise them;
  • Project quality improvement: Implements Project activities according to the set quality benchmarks; Facilitates Project quality benchmark audits; Facilitates Project quality improvement through adhering to the set QI criterion

Stakeholder Management and development

  • Conduct Stakeholder mapping and documentation;
  • Initiates and maintains Stakeholder engagement and relationships – all province, district & local level;
  • Development of project stakeholder database;

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-matriculation qualification or degree in development or social studies, project management or similar
  • Knowledge of M&E concept and tools
  • Experience in developing case studies, realising concept documents and literature reviews
  • Experience in developing work plans and results-based management concept and tools

ESSENTIAL

  • Driver’s license
  • Competence in MS Office and basic Excel
  • Experience in working within the INGO/NGO sector
  • Experience in working with other civil society organisations and government counterparts
