Job Title: Provincial Coordinators: ECD Situational Analysis (X4)
Fixed term: 2 months

Reports to: Project Manager: ECD Situational Analysis
Location:  1. Limpopo (based in Musina or Blouberg)
2. Limpopo (based in Thabazimbi or Mogalakwena)
3. Mpumalanga (based in eMalahleni or Ogies or Phola)
4. Northern Cape (based in Kuruman or Postmasburg or Sishen)
Child Protection Level: 3
Travel Requirements: Domestic travel, must have own car
Budget Responsibilities: None
Asset Responsibilities: Save the Children work tools
External Representation: Regular

Purpose of the Job

The ECD Situational Analysis Provincial Coordinator will be directly responsible for coordinating the implementation activities of an early childhood development analysis in Limpopo. The incumbent will be responsible for the overall planning and facilitation of activities in the province; including community entry and engagement, liaising with provincial stakeholders and provincial service providers, leading qualitative data collection, facilitation of quantitative data collection activities – including logistics, recruitment and training of data collectors, ensuring implementation and data quality, supervision of data collectors and data collection processes, and the development of field reports and submissions to Head Office. Provincial coordinators will be expected to travel between two implementation sites. The Provincial Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Project Manager and will work closely with SCSA’s Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Team and other relevant staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and roll out all implementation and data collection activities
  • Facilitate and support recruitment of data collectors
  • Assist in the development tools, project documents and required resources
  • Initiate and maintain strong relationships with local stakeholders
  • Facilitate entry into respective communities and community engagement activities
  • Collect quantitative and qualitative data from reception phase and Grade 1 teachers in selected schools
  • Facilitate data collection efforts at ECD sites
  • Provide leadership and management to the data collection team to enable achievement of project goals
  • Adhere to quality standards and guide the data collection team to ensure implementation quality, against standards especially in ensuring data quality
  • Prepare and submit provincial reports to the Project Manager
  • Document and share local lessons learnt
  • Conduct other related responsibilities as the Line Manager may assign

Qualifications and Experience

  • Tertiary qualification
  • At least 3 or more years working experience in coordinating research and data collection
  • At least 5 years’ experience in working with various stakeholders; including government officials, community leaders/members
  • Experience in the field of early childhood development would be an advantage
  • Driver’s licence
