Senior Legal Advisor Jobs (3 Vacancies)

A permanent position exists for a Senior Legal Advisor X3 within the Legal and International Finance Department of the IDC
The position will be based at the IDC Head Office in Sandton and the incumbent will report to the Legal Manager.

 
Key functions of the position include to:

Provide general legal advice, including legal research
Structure and negotiate commercial transactions including project finance and cross-border financing transactions
Identify, evaluate and structure import and export finance transactions
Ensure compliance with internal legal and other IDC procedures and policies
Identify and minimize potential legal risks
Draft, review and negotiate financing agreements and other legal documentation
Make presentations on legal and regulatory developments
Conducting legal due diligence investigations
Ensure client satisfaction by providing speedy delivery of agreements and advice
Developing and maintaining relationships with clients, external legal counsel and other key stakeholders
Develop and maintain client and institutional relationships, locally and internationally

Job Requirements
Job Competencies

Sound corporate and commercial legal knowledge
Ability to work independently and within a team
Draft and negotiate loan agreements and other legal documentation
Negotiate at senior level
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Independent judgement and good analytical skills
Capable of working in a high pressured environment and can exercise independent judgement
Ability to prioritise
Ability to independently deliver and provide guidance on highly complex projects
Ability to mentor juniors on areas of specialization
Basic understanding of international and local financing instruments

Qualifications

Law degree and Admission as an Attorney essential
Master’s degree such as LLM and MBA desirable

Experience

A minimum of five years post-article experience in the commercial banking sector
Experience in the drafting and negotiation of cross-border, project finance, corporate and structured finance transactions
Exposure to green industries will be an added advantage
