OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY
Line reporting to the Programme Managers, the incumbents will be responsible for managing multi-projects and
multidisciplinary projects through integrated project management approach to enhance interdependencies of
projects, stakeholder management to ensure projects meet their objectives.
PRIMARY DUTIES
Responsible and accountable for multi-projects and multidisciplinary projects.
Manage project master plan, stakeholder management, project governance and providing leadership.
Manage system’s projects progress meetings and monthly status reporting.
Assist with screening, prioritisation and scheduling of projects in consultation with various stakeholders.
Intimately know the big picture from a project and production perspective.
Manage system’s shutdown programme and minimise the risk of water supply disruptions as a result of projects.
Ensure projects meet their objectives of time, cost, quality and scope for Rand Water to meet supply of water at the desired quality and quantity.
Provide technical and project management guidance to other project managers.
Investigations and assessments of engineering problems on Rand Water sites and recommending solutions.
Manage the scheduling of resources and assessment of the system’s ability to effectively execute its responsibilities for both internal and external projects.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be in possession of a formal engineering qualification (BTech, BSc/BEng degree).Formal engineering qualifications (BTech, BSc / BEng degree).
Project Management Qualification/Professional Certification (Diploma, Degree or Project Management Professional-PMP).
Professional Registration (or eligibility to be registered) with the Engineering Council of SA.
10 years Project Management experience with a proven track record in managing high level projects, project management skills (best project management practices) in terms of managing matrix structures, multidisciplinary and multi projects.
5 years’ experience in the engineering field, mainly in water industry.
Advanced Management Programme will be an advantage.
Knowledge of ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, OHSACT (construction regulations, etc).
