Small Projects Foundation (SPF) is a non-governmental organisation (NGO), that aims at achieving the development of individuals, families and communities who are committed to their own growth and development.

Job Title: Chief Operating Officer
Job Location: East London

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for the oversight and overall management of all programmes, operations and compliance requirements as well as, adherence to internal policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide detailed information to team members regarding the performance capabilities of each department, which he/she has learned through regular meetings with Managers and regular site visits
  • Approve programme budgets, together with the Financial Manager and Programme Managers
  • Work with Programme Managers and the Financial Manager to understand needs and look for solutions for budgeting and operational issues
  • Work together with the Human Resource Manager to ensure the organisation meets it staffing needs, including developing plans to maximize efficiency over all programmes
  • Determine which projects the organisation can pursue, making more effective decisions regarding the operations of different departments
  • Work closely and in conjunction with the CEO
  • Design, implement and communicate strategy for operational management and programme development to meet agreed organisational performance plans within budgets and timelines
  • Establish and maintain appropriate systems and processes for measuring necessary aspects of operational management and development
  • Establish policies that promote company culture and vision
  • Oversee daily operations of the company and the work of Programme Managers
  • Support in designing risk mitigation strategies by portfolio analysis
  • Coordinate with different departments for timely support for the programme implementation and lead employees to encourage maximum performance and dedication
  • Write and submit monthly reports to the CEO in all matters of importance and support the CEO in developing and overseeing the long term strategies
  • Set and manage performance targets of programme teams, ensuring staffing levels are met and professional management standards are adhered to while maintaining working knowledge of the organisation’s policies and regulations. Ensure timeous funder report at all times
  • Manage relationships with partners and stakeholders
  • Chief Operations Officer to support and complement the Chief Executive Officer, towards meaningfully advancing the mission of the organisation, building institutional credibility and strengthening program delivery
