The purpose of the position is to mentor and guide Soul Buddyz Club members to undertake club activities and to empower Boys within the Soul Buddyz clubs with knowledge and skills that will support them to make better informed choices for a positive change in their lives.
Responsibilities:
- Implement the recruitment and registration of Soul Buddyz Clubs
- Conduct and facilitate Boys mentoring group sessions
- Collect attendance registers and registration forms from clubs
- Distribute relevant tools to clubs
- Ensure that clubs allocated to them meet weekly and report their attendance appropriately as required by Soul City
- Develop monthly/quarterly club activities in consultation with the Programme Officer
- Weekly face to face mentoring sessions twice a month with Mentees
- Documentation of all mentoring sessions and other club activities
- Identify challenges faced by clubs that may impact on the participation in the programme and identify appropriate interventions to mitigate drop outs
- Track attendance of club activities and mentoring sessions by members
- Prepare and submit monthly progress reports
Stakeholder Management
- Identify key stakeholders who can contribute to meeting clubs’ objectives
- Network with local stakeholders to support and profile the work of the clubs
- Facilitate club meetings with key decision makers
General
- Prepare reports as and when required in the right templates
- Work closely with the programme officer to ensure club activities are seamlessly integrated into Soul City programmes
- Identify innovative ways and opportunities to meet the objectives of the programme
- Monitor and keep track of club members’ participation and mitigate against drop out
Requirements:
- A matric qualification. Post matric qualification advantageous
- Experience and understanding of gender, children and young women sector issues is essential.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in youth development/activism with a specific focus on sexuality education and HIV prevention
- An understanding of advocacy work
- Commitment to activism for gender equality
- Dedication and commitment
- Ability to pay attention to detail.
- Be a male between the ages of 24 to 35
- A self-starter and able to work with limited supervision
- Facilitation skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to use own initiative and take ownership of his/her tasks

- Knowledge of CBOs and NGO networks engaged in Advocacy
