To provide assistance in promoting and protecting the organisations reputation by developing and executing media and public relations strategies and plans for brand building, innovation, corporate promotions, through the use of various media outlets in collaboration with the communications team.

Job Summary:
Crisis and Reputation Management Strategy or plan
•Develop and implement media strategies
•Create a media crises management plan for the SACAA
•Provide communication support to the organisations leaders and members of various events, including media interviews, press releases and build strategy documents
•Track and manage the media and press metrics
•Draw the right tools and strategies for the implementation of better communication with the audience
•Develop communications materials including press releases, fact sheet, website copy, briefing notes for the media.
•Facilitate responses to media queries and arrange media briefings
•Employ innovation in media communication to heighten the overall objective of raising awareness of the organisations issues, events, and projects.
•Provide guidance to ensure coordination and communication of information to both internal and external audiences
Stakeholder Relations:
•Build relationships with key media contacts and identify opportunities to proactively pitch brand and corporate information.
•Construct and strengthen relationships with reporters, producers, podcasts, and other traditional and non-traditional media outlets
Statutory Compliance:
•Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations emanating from the Independent Media Commission Act 148 of 1993
Critical incident Communications
•Be available to analyse and develop a communications plan regarding incidents of critical nature involving the SACAA
•Ensure fact checking, analyses and attention to detail
Monitoring Evaluation and Reporting:
•Monitor mentions of SACAA on public and other media platforms and
create detailed critical media reports.
•Update and maintain all media databases
• Evaluate the effectiveness of media programmes and communicate results to business.
Partnering:
•Ensure diligence, responsibility, professionalism and provide team support
•Liaise and collaborate with other departments and cross-functional teams to assist in providing creative solutions to managing media related matters.

Requirements
A National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in communication/ Journalism/Public Relations or relevant qualification
Ideal qualification: Postgraduate / Master’s Degree in communication journalism/Public Relations or relevant qualification
10 years experience as Media Specialist or Public Relations Specialist or in dealing with media or Public Relations matters
