Reports to: Regional Manager: Properties
Summation: Renovate and maintain office furniture. Undertake minor painting, repairs and maintenance of buildings. Oversee work done by contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
GENERAL
Renovate office equipment, e.g. painting/repair of office furniture
Undertake minor painting of building internally and externally
Undertake minor repairs to roofs, cracks in walls, locks and window catches
Undertake minor plumbing, joinery, welding, etc
Replace window panes, light bulbs and tubes
Repair vertical/Venetian blinds
Undertake minor maintenance of all floor areas
Install burglar-proofing, partitions, laying of carpet tiles
Remove and relocate minor assets and inventory items excluding specialist equipment
Keep control over small workshop and all tools and equipment
CLEANING CONTRACT:
• Receive complaints, record and follow up
• Check numbers and times of arrival and departure of cleaning staff
• Check stock level of cleaning material regularly
• Keep register with regard to the cleaning of the building
• Coordinate cleaning of external windows by private contractor
MAINTENANCE OF BUILDING:
• Receive all complaints regarding defects, record and attend where possible
• Obtain quotations for specialist work in consultation with Works Inspectorate
• Monitor settlement of complaints to ensure that it has been attended to
• Arrange for the purchasing of the required equipment and material at the best price
• Check stock available regularly
• Check and clear roof area and gutters of refuse and other debris on a regular basis
MAINTENANCE CONTRACTS:
• Check and ensure that work in connection with term contracts, e.g. pest control and refuse removal are done timeously
• Arrange for follow up of complaints in respect of lifts to ensure that maintenance work is done
• Certify accounts in respect of work done and arrange payment thereof
NEW WORK:
• Record all requests for new work
• Determine whether work must be undertaken by maintenance staff or on contract, and arrange accordingly
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications and Experience
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE.
Grade twelve (NQF Level 4)
At least 3 years experience in the relevant field
General knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, safety features, repair and maintenance
Valid Code B driving licence
Skills and Abilities & Attributes
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Listening, Good eye / hand coordination, Ability to read and understand building plans, Ability to deliver work according to
specification, Coordination, Problem solving and Communication skills (verbal and writing).
ATTRIBUTES:
Assertive, Able to work under pressure, Punctual, Honest, Accurate, Customer orientated and Sober habits
