Job Title Consultant: Human Resources Business Partner

Position Reports to Manager: HR

Department HR Division Customs

Location OR Tambo International Airport

Job Purpose Provide a comprehensive HR business partner service to ensure effective implementation of HR policies, procedures.Duties:People Management Advisory Services: Advise line management of best approach + solution to People Management Career Management: Advise line management of relevant career paths + advise staff on career possibilities.Compliance Management: Ensure all HR activities , HR advice complies with relevant labour legislation Empowerment: Coaching of line managers on leading People Management practices, including HR policies and procedures HR reporting: Generate frequent HR report to assist Senior line management Performance Management: Assist line management to identify poor performers & facilitate appropriate interventions Risk Management: Ensure all people management practices are not posing risk to SARS Succession management: Assist line management to identify successors Talent Management: Assist line management to identify talent pool where all employees are mapped in terms of performance, potential & learning agility. Organisational Development Delivering HR Projects: Plan + execute assigned HR projects to improve HR service delivery: Identify HR focus area that need to be reinforced: Assist line management to establish primary, secondary skills profile of division Transformation Management: Advise line management to improve diversity profile of workforce &comply with SARS AA & EE targets Transformation interventions + focus areas to a representative workforce Writing + updating job descriptions: Ensuring that job description is recent and aligned with SARS policy : Provide advice to managers consistent with legislation + SARS agreements Empowerment: Develop labour relations competencies of all line managers + shop stewards Establishing a sound organisational climate: Promoting a sound employee relations climate by providing labour relations advice, monitoring divisional labour relations practices, & co-ordinate implementation of ER initiatives Facilitate Meetings: Facilitate effectiveness of management & union meetings Facilitate training sessions: Identify specific ER training needs in terms of Labour Relations procedures & facilitate training interventions Human Resources Development Career Management: Provide appropriate advice to line managers in terms of Career management Policy. Personal Development Plans: Advise & assist line managers to develop accurate detailed development plans Training Needs: Assist line management in identifying training, development needs of staff Management Data integrity Management: Ensure organograms & reporting on SAP reflect accurate status. This include maintaining HR data to ensure 100% data integrity Leadership: Focus on specific development plans for leaders, design specific recognition for “good & desired” leaders Relationship management: Focus on relations with other HR divisions that include Recruitment, HR Administrative Services + Employee Relations Knowledge & Skills: Ability to transfer people management skills transfer; Assertiveness Business Writing Communication skill Generalist HR background with exposure to HR disciplines Intermediate Project management skills Interviewing skills Knowledge of Recognition of Prior learning Labour legislation knowledge including LRA; Basic Conditions of Employment & Skills Development act Labour Relations and Employee Relations experience; Negotiation skills Problem solving and analytical skills; Willing to travel Education & Experience: HR Related tertiary qualification Honours Degree or B-tech HR related qualification is preferred 5 Years HR generalist experience demonstrated in corporate environment
