The Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds (SANCCOB) is a leader in seabird rehabilitation, research and oiled wildlife response and achieves this internationally recognised work through applying high veterinary standards and compassionate care.

Job Title: Fundraiser
Job Location: Cape Town

The purpose of the Fundraiser is to facilitate relationships with our supporters and keep them informed of the progress and funding needs of SANCCOB’s projects and programmes: to present SANCCOB’s projects and programmes to (potential) funders; to conceptualise and develop platforms and opportunities for individual donors to support SANCCOB; and to raise the actual funds needed to cover the costs of projects and programmes for SANCCOB in the Eastern Cape and the Western Cape.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage an individual giving programme
  • Identification of potential donors (individuals and organisations)
  • Present projects to current and potential funders
  • Acquisition and retention of regular givers
  • Bequest programme development and liaison with estate executors
  • Maintain SANCCOB’s membership programme
  • Secure gifts in kind and sponsorships
  • Manage off-site fundraising through volunteers
  • Manage third party fundraising and donation platforms such as GivenGain, the Two Oceans Marathon Initiative, MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet.

Requirements:

  • Previous exposure to a sales or fundraising environment
  • Communication skills, as evidenced in the construction and presentation of their own personal CV and letter of motivation
  • Results driven, innovative, passionate and committed
  • Financial literacy, comfortable to work with budgets and present financials as a critical component of proposals and feedback reports
  • Relationship oriented, feels comfortable cultivating and managing relationships
  • Collaborator and connector, and facilitates meaningful engagement
  • Articulate ability to present a concept in such a way that the listener or reader is motivated to participate
