South Africa and rest of Africa programmes

Applications for the South Africa and rest of Africa based programmes are now open.

IT plays a key role in enabling us to connect customers to our full range of products and services. Our IT team supports a range of PBB business units in both our South African business and in the rest of Africa. We focus on delivering a range of services and projects by working in partnership with the business, so we provide an excellent service for all our end users – whether that’s our customers, or the people who use our systems inside the bank.

Join us and you’ll discover that we have a way of doing things to meet the needs of our business customers. By doing things ‘The IT way’ we’ve developed a core engagement process that ensures we deliver a great service, while also making PBB IT a great place to work.

Unlike our other training programmes, on this programme you’ll join a specific IT area as a permanent employee from day one. After an initial month-long programme of orientation and induction into the different IT areas, you’ll join your chosen IT team. This orientation will give you the practical experience you need to start to make a contribution to our business.

On this programme, we recruit graduates for permanent positions across the system development life cycle, covering the areas of Business Analysis, Architecture, Development, Data Warehousing, Infrastructure and Maintenance and Production. In these areas, the roles offered include:

  • Business Analyst
  • Data Warehouse Production
  • Data Warehouse Development
  • Production, Support & Maintenance
  • Process Management
  • Network Engineering
  • Infrastructure
  • Programming and development
  • Project administrators
  • User support and call centre

What you’ll need

You’ll need to be a South African citizen with at least either a four year Btec National Diploma or a relevant IT degree and an average academic record of at least 60% in your second year of study. You’ll also need to be able to relocate to Johannesburg if we offer you a place on the programme. Your matric results will be considered as part of the selection process and you’ll also need to be available for a panel interview.

Support through the programme

Naturally, you’ll have access to on-going coaching and training opportunities, as well as the support of a buddy – a graduate who’s recently been through the IT programme. You’ll also have regular focused discussions about your personal career and development plans with your line manager. And throughout the year, you’ll have the opportunity to take part in an employee engagement framework and a coaching programme.
