Minimum Requirements

Qualification:
Minimum qualification – Standard 10 / Matric Certificate
Full Qualification as recognised by the Registrar
Relevant business related tertiary qualification e.g. Commercial degree/qualification is an advantage
Undergraduate degree, or similar [majors in Risk, Finance, Insurance an advantage] and/or
Postgraduate or professional qualifications in risk and relevant experience an advantage

 

Experience:
A minimum of 5-10 years previous working experience in commercial short term insurance.
Previous portfolio Insurance relationship management experience (5 years in total) as a Business Manager and/or Account Executive managing a portfolio of commercial clients is preferable. This experience provides an understanding of how businesses operate, as well as understanding the insurance business risks, industry risks and financial requirements pertaining to the commercial market.
A good current knowledge and understanding of different industry sectors and sector risk profiles/trends; this includes an understanding of the impact of climatic conditions on agriculture (if operating in an agricultural market).
A good knowledge of competitor offerings and structures.
An understanding of multi-level products available to business banking customers an advantage.
Good knowledge of PBB Banking product offerings an advantage.

Profitable Growth in Insurance New Business Sales to SBSA & Non-SBSA Clients
Developing and implementing a calling schedule for business leads to establish the insurance needs and to assist potential new business clients to better understand their insurance options.
Promoting, providing advice on, selling and structuring a wide and diverse range of insurance solutions customised to best meet the insurance needs of commercial customers.
Selling refers to acquiring and placing new insurance portfolio’s on a mobile, proactive, face-to-face basis.
Sourcing and taking ownership of sales leads from other divisions within the bank e.g. Commercial Banking suites, Commercial Property Finance, Vehicle and Asset Finance Division, etc.
Mining and analysing customer data to identify and plan new insurance opportunities.
Customer Service, Quality and Efficiency
Providing a central advisory/information/query handling service point for new and existing insurance customers
Performing a proactive liaison role between all the relevant parties (bank/clients/insurers/back-office/claims)
Accurately and efficiently processing client mandates/ documentation requirements for new insurance portfolios.

Lending Support and Risk Management
Explaining and structuring customised insurance options.
Supporting customers in their completion of insurance application information requirements e.g. financial needs analysis, proposal forms, record of advice, etc.
Notifying customers regarding the insurance requirements on loan facilities such as vehicle finance, guarantees, property loans, agricultural production loans, marine, etc.
Exploring alternative solutions if required in terms of a client’s insurance portfolio risk analysis.

 

Compliance with Legislation
Continued adherence to disclosure and compliance in terms of the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act (FAIS).
