Overview The Officer of the Director-General Division within the dti has as vacant position for a State Accountant which is now open for applications.
Calculate and capture salary claims (overtime claims, board member claims, ect.)
Recovery of all outstanding debts.
Follow up on suspense accounts and reporting on outstanding balances.
Monthly reporting on operational statistics.
Process payments within the relevant policy provisions and/or applicable legislations/s.
Maintenance of PERSAL related transactions eg allowance and deductions.
Prepare financial statement input on a monthly basis.
Knowledge of Public Finance Management Act and Treasury Regulations.
Attend to CA Service Desk logged calls.
Adhere to internal control measures to prevent over, under or duplicate payments.
Provide training to subordinates and customers on policy provisions.
Update IRP5’s in terms of applicable Income Tax legislations.
National Diploma in Accounting/B.Com degree with at least Accounting as major subject.
2-3 years relevant experience.
In-depth knowledge and experience of financial systems (BAS and PERSAL).
Computer skills (Microsoft Office and Excel)
A proactive creative and innovative thinker.
Knowledge of the PFMA, Treasury Regulations, Financial Regulations as well as financial policies will also be an added advantage.
Sound ability to communicate well, both verbal and written.
Excellent administrative, planning and organisational skills.
Ability to work independently.
A sense of urgency and an ability to work under stress.
Good business writing skills.
Good interpersonal skills and service orientation.
