To manage and monitor the truck and ancillary equipment maintenance function that comprises of the entire maintenance function on all Haul trucks and mining Ancillary equipment to support the achievement of mining division’s performance targets.

Job Summary:
Key Performance Areas:
•Implement and Start-Up the Equipment Repair and Maintenance System: Implements the maintenance and repair systems, policies, procedures, resources, control standards, measures and programmes to achieve reliability and availability targets for Haul Trucks 960E, maintenance of Ancillary Equipment like FEL, Track Dozers, etc., and associated infrastructure; Provides input into the equipment maintenance planning process; Assists to determine maintenance standards, targets and productivity measures; Identifies, implements and applies industry leading repair and maintenance strategies, to achieve equipment and infrastructure reliability and availability targets; Designs and implements continuous improvement plans aligned to equipment maintenance programmes, systems and internal controls; Complies, delivers and improves on all approved maintenance plans; Creates equipment reliability standard measurement tables and reviews structures to ensure production plan achievement.
•Maintenance System Control: Implements routine maintenance plans on equipment and infrastructure to minimize breakdowns and maximize overall condition, availability and reliability; Coordinates and manages the work /maintenance/ breakdowns planned by artisans on all equipment under own control and associated infrastructure to achieve set reliability and availability levels; Conduct inspections to ensure that work proceeds efficiently and according to plan; Investigates all serious/critical/high potential maintenance or equipment productivity problems to identify causes and determine prevention measures; Conducts root cause analysis, liaises across interfaces to solve problems and initiate corrective action; Makes proposals on equipment re-design or modification to optimize the mining processes; Ensures recommendations are implemented in compliance with applicable insurance standards and current legislation.
•Manage Internal and External Relationships: Satisfies both external and internal customers; Establishes and maintains relationships with external specialists, contractors, suppliers, software providers, regulatory authorities, individual or business customers.
•Equipment Maintenance Support, Communication and Training: Clearly communicates maintenance requirements to all SU employees, contractors and relevant parties, ensuring understanding of the requirements; Implements maintenance training plans; Actively develops the necessary maintenance skill sets required to ensure optimization of equipment as it matures within the various life cycles; Reports on the effectiveness of maintenance training programmes and co-ordinates improvement initiatives; Assists and guides mining production employees to implement the maintenance codes of practice, policies and procedures; Provides specialist technical knowledge and advice; Active participation in mining production meetings, audits and incident reporting investigations.
•Maintenance Budget, Reporting and Document Control: Provides input information for the required mining maintenance risk assessments, reports, legal register and statistics to comply with all company and statutory / external requirements; Compiles accurate maintenance reports and machine history records; Provides input to report on established annual equipment productivity measurements; Maintains the maintenance monitoring-, incident- and document control systems and databases; Develops the sectional budget and gains necessary approval; Manages and monitors the sectional costs against budget.

Requirements:
Requirements and experience:
•BSc/BEng/B Tech Degree or similar qualification in mechanical or Electrical engineering.
•NQA Qualification: Level 7/8
•Eligible for registration as a professional/incorporated engineer.
•At least 10 years’ experience in implementation and maintenance of open pit heavy mining equipment of which 5 years should have been on supervisory level.
•A minimum of 2 years’ maintenance planning experience.
•Experience in Project management.
•Experience in System Engineering.
•SAP PM Experience.
•Long term and LCC based budgeting experience that has covered all engineering discipline on the mine.
•Experience in maintenance and assembly of heavy mining equipment will be a distinct advantage.
•Valid Code 8 Driver’s License.
