The Animal Anti-Cruelty League, has been protecting and caring for animals since 1956. It is one of South Africa’s largest independent Animal Welfare Organisation, relying entirely on the generosity and goodwill of the animal-loving public for financial support. The AACL gets involved with all aspects of animal welfare: provide shelter for abandoned animals, promote an efficient adoption programme, prosecute animal cruelty cases, run welfare hospitals for lower income groups, visit underprivileged areas with fully equipped mobile clinics and regularly address schools and clubs on the challenges of animal welfare.

Job Title: Marketing Manager
Job Location: Cape Town

The Marketing Manager will be responsible for building and managing the AACL-CT’s brand and all aspects of marketing in order to increase public awareness of the organisation and its activities; strengthen its reputation with clients, funders and the communities it serves; and take a prominent role in fundraising.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing plan that includes events, media relations, press releases, social networking, annual report, website, newsletters, and branding
  • Take responsibility for all marketing activities and play a key role in spreading a marketing culture within the organisation
  • Responsible for managing and promoting all events
  • Responsible for managing and increasing retail opportunities
  • Identify and pursue fundraising opportunities
  • Ensure that all communication is as per the agreed AACL brand CI to build a consistent brand image
  • Assist in identifying and developing cost-saving and revenue-generating strategies
  • Maintain detailed database of donors and partners

Requirements:

  • University degree and minimum of five years’ demonstrable experience working in marketing
  • Demonstrable digital and social media skills
  • Experience working in a nonprofit organisation and in fundraising will be extremely beneficial
  • Passion for all animals, animal welfare and people
  • Computer skills
  • Writing and verbal communication skills
  • Planning and organisational skills – prioritise work and manage time effectively
  • Creative (i.e. ability to find inexpensive solutions to problems), outgoing, self-starter, high levels of contentiousness and professional team player
  • Proactive and able to meet deadlines
  • Candidates must have a valid driver’s licence and own transport
