Job Title: Supervisor Counsellor – West Coast District
Location: Malmesbury, Western Cape, South Africa

Job Summary:
Responsible for the ongoing analysis of health care information, obtained from a variety of sources in all data collection and analysis activities to help ensure accountability and efficiency from start to finish for all programmes and projects, both new and established throughout the Company.
Technical Work Responsibilities
Strategizing: To improve counseling activities & to develop, implement and monitor a defaulter tracing system
Counselling: Plan, develop and organize counselling to counselling staff. Ensures that sessions with patients are done and followed up regularly and to collaborate with the Club coordinator for the implementation of Adherence clubs/Support Groups and to identify gaps in counselling and recommends and execute appropriate actions according to the needs.
Team management: Coordinate and supervise the work of the Counsellors in the different sites. To promote communication and active participation of all counselling staff in the project and promotes Aurum values and philosophy, to facilitate the exchange of information among the team in the project & to arrange and facilitate regular counselling meetings experience sharing and feedback..
Data Collection and reporting: Ensure that all client information is documented correctly by counsellors and to compile on a weekly and monthly basis all counsellor data and undertake analysis of the data reports, to identify any problems and to suggest feasible solutions.
Oversee that all staff have the necessary tools, equipment and material for effective productivity
Manage staff performance
Attend to complaints and take corrective action
Keep staff informed of the development in Aurum and report activities and outcomes to the Professional Nurse on the Project/Project Manager

Skills, technical, functional and behavioural required:
Read, Write, Speak and Understand English
Read, Write, Speak and Understand Afrikaans will be an advantage
Ability to function under pressure
Good knowledge of HIV & AIDS/STI/TB a well as Treatment Adherence
Good interpersonal skills
Strong organisational skills
Strict confidentiality and professionalism
Administrative and time management skills
Knowledge of clinic/facility rules and regulations
Reporting and analytical skills

Requirements:
Education Requirements:
High school diploma / Gr 12 or equivalent
Basic counselling skills certificate (NQF Level 4 (of equivalent)
HIV/AIDS Counselling and Testing Certificate
Debriefer certificate – advantageous
Trauma certificate – advantageous
Located in the specific sub-district to visit all clinics on weekly basis
Computer literacy, ability to work very well under pressure and with minimum supervision. strict confidentiality and professionalism, respectful, sensitive and empathetic to the clients and other co-workers, recognize one’s own limitations, strong organizational ability, team player, assertive, proactive and diligent, flexible, good communicator and training skills, reporting and analytical skills
Valid driver’s license and own transport is a necessity

Experience:
3 years HIV counselling and testing experience – advantageous
Community mobilisation and health education experience
RTQII knowledge
Management experience
Project management experience or equivalent
