Job Title: Research Nurse
Location: Parktown, Gauteng, South Africa

Job Summary:
Implementation of TB prevention treatment study for HIV positive participants in a public healthcare setting as follows:
Perform TB screening and testing at the health facilities.
Collect, store and report data appropriately as per the protocol.
Collaborate with clinical staff and managers.
Report on daily/ weekly activities to study management and meet stipulated screening and initiation targets
Promotion of good relations with the clinic staff and managers.
Participate in training activities of persons working on the project to accomplish aims of the project
Ensure day-to-day support of the research staff on sites
Trouble shooting day to day logistical issues.

Provide clinical services:
Obtain medical history and physical examination of patients
Specimen collection for clinical investigation of study outcomes.
Assessing the results and refer participant for further treatment where necessary
Referral of participants for further investigations including x-rays.
Assist with ART initiation

Research related activities:
Being responsible for the proper documentation of all study activities
Perform quality checks on collected data.
Participate in data query resolution
Complete any other activities as required by the protocol or the study.
Complete, compile and submit study case report forms (CRFs) and source documents timeously
Ensure all records on participants are completed and accurately filed with strict adherence to documentation handling procedures
Maintain accurate study logs related to enrolment and other study activities.
Report on daily/weekly activities to the Study Coordinator and meet stipulated enrolment and follow-up targets

General administration:
You will be required to;
Prepare participant files and documents.
Safe storage and transportation of biological specimen
Attend study meetings to report on study progress

Requirements:
Microsoft Office
Research methods
GCP training
Knowledge of HIV/TB diagnosis, treatment and care issues

Work Experience:
Experience in research at least 3 years
Experience working with staff in public healthcare facilities is advantageous

Minimum requirements:
Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or University
Registration with South African Nursing Council as a nurse
NIMART training would be advantageous

Advantageous Requirements:
Willingness to travel
Driver’s license and driving experience

Skills required:
Good communication skills.
Ability to solve practical problems.
Good management and interpersonal skills.
Proficient in written and spoken English and fluency in local languages.
Ability to work independently and in a team.
Ability to work under pressure
Good numerical skills
