Job Title: Research Doctor

Job Summary::
The Research Doctor is responsible for accurate, timely, complete, ethical and efficient processing of Study Volunteers in accordance with the Study Protocol

Technical Work Responsibilities:
Liaise with Internal and External Stakeholders
Apply relevant clinical knowledge and skills
Apply knowledge and understanding of HIV/Aids and TB
Research Study-related tasks
Attend training activities
Reporting and record keeping
Research-related administrative duties
Performance management

Duties:
Liaise with all Internal Stakeholders and External Stakeholder and Suppliers when necessary towards the achievement of organizational and departmental goals

Clinical tasks:
Take medical histories and conduct physical examinations on Study Participants according to protocol
Assess potential Study Participants to determine eligibility for Study participation according to protocol requirements
Follow up Participants according to protocol requirements, including safety management and reporting
Manage Study Participants that develop medical complications arising from or during Study procedures
Report on Study Participants according to Regulatory and Sponsor requirements
Refer Participants for further management
Apply medical judgment related to adverse event reporting; and follow up thereof
Research Study-related tasks:
Conduct procedures related to the enrolment and follow up of Study Participants
Complete, compile and submit Study Case Report Forms (CRFs) and source documentation accurately, comprehensively, timeously and according to GCP standards
Respond timeously and accurately in keeping with GCP to Data queries from Lab, QA and Data Staff
Monitor and report on the safety of Trial Participants
Process and store Study documents with strict adherence to documentation handling procedures
Evaluate and ensure appropriate follow up of Laboratory findings in accordance with Research findings
Monitor and through training, correct Research Nurses’ skills in taking medical histories from, conducting physical examinations on, and providing treatment for selected primary health conditions to Study Participant
Communication and Education:
Ensure an exceptionally respectful and friendly rapport with Research Participants to maximize their retention in the protocol, and adherence to Study products and procedures
Effectively communicate Study requirements, including adherence procedures, to Study Participants
Participate in Staff meetings
Comply with Reporting requirements
Conducts all activities listed above according to SOPs and protocols, and in accordance with Confidentiality Agreements
Ensures the ethical, timely, accurate, confidential and courteous processing of Research Participants and Data
Conducts other duties as reasonably assigned
Conducting Study activities to GCP standards
Conduct all Study activities in accordance with the Study protocol and standard procedures
Address and ensure error corrections are attended to
Adhere to Data collection and recordkeeping
Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures according to prescribed procedures and legislation
Report all unsafe activities to Senior Management/Human Resources
Participate in proactive Team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill
Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures according to prescribed procedures and legislation
Report all unsafe activities to Senior Management/Human Resources
Adhere and maintain decision making authority as allocated to the position

Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree from college or university in Medicine
Registered Medical Practitioner with the HPCSA
GCP Certification

Experience:
At least 2 years’ experience as a Medical Doctor

Requirements:
Proficient personal computer skills
Proficient in written and spoken English and fluency in local languages (Setswana, English, SeSotho, Xhosa, Afrikaans)
SA Citizen or valid work permit to work in South Africa
Valid Driver’s License
Own car
Minimal/Moderate/Excessive overnight travel (up to 30%) by land or air if required
Willing to work overtime
