Job Description
As a Senior Developer (Scrum), you will guide cross functional teams in the execution of multiple development projects in IST division using the principles of agile Scrum framework. You will facilitate high complexity Agile initiatives from initiation through release, providing oversight to ensure alignment with IST Agile/Scrum practices, including but not limited to, project kick-off, sprint, release and deployment planning. A critical part is resolving problems through research and investigations and leading process improvement. Furthermore, as a Senior Developer (Scrum), you’ll gain valuable management experience delegating responsibilities to the rest of your team and reviewing the work of Junior Developers (Scrum). Some of the responsibilities will include:
•Being the steward of the Scrum process to ensure the team is working by the values and practices of Scrum
•Coaching IST development teams and overall organization in Agile best practices and selection of the appropriate processes (e.g., Scrum, Kanban)
•Continually evaluating IST’s success in Agile delivery and not only identifying opportunities for improvement, but developing the strategy to implement change across organizational levels
•Organizing and facilitating, when necessary, all Scrum ceremonies: daily stand-up meetings, backlog refinement, sprint planning, retrospectives, and sprint reviews
•Collaborating with Stakeholders, Product Managers, Business Analysts, and Development Managers to plan releases and manage a healthy product backlog
•Recommending and introducing the appropriate metrics in support of continued improvement with the goal of getting the best work out of each team and measuring representing that improvement to the team and leadership
•Collaborating with IST management to ensure the development teams are practicing Agile framework and software engineering best practices
•Reporting progress, team status, and issues to IST management
•Working with Stakeholders and Project Management to clearly articulate a common goal for the team at the release and sprint levels
•Coordinating the execution of deliverables across multiple Scrum Teams with a focus on scaling Scrum to manage cross team dependencies.
Requirements
Academic and Professional Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or any equivalent qualification acceptable to BITRI is required. You must be a Certified/Professional Scrum Master to qualify for this position. Other relevant professional certifications will be an added advantage during the selection process.
Work Experience
Minimum of 5 years of Agile project management experience with proven history of delivering software projects, minimum of 5 years of software development experience as a lead developer, technical lead, or Scrum Master. 2 years’ experience managing dependencies and project integration in a cross-functional, matrix environment will be an added advantage. Preferred candidate should be able to demonstrate knowledge or experience with:
•JIRA tracking systems
•Multiple Agile delivery frameworks
•Release Train Engineer (RTE) role; or demonstrates solid facilitation skills through experiences
•Scaled Agile including expertise in running PI Planning and dependency management
•Scaling Scrum and partnering with other teams to monitor cross team dependencies
•Software development lifecycle and agile software development practices
