The Centre for Positive Care (CPC) is a Non Profit Organization working in three provinces namely Limpopo, Gauteng and North West, with a vision that all sex workers receive high quality treatment, care and support to improving their quality of life and productivity, and supporting the National Strategic Plan of South Africa in reducing HIV, STI and TB  and to ensure greater participation and involvement of targeted beneficiaries in community systems strengthening and reproductive health and rights services.

 

 

Job Title: Two (2) Social Auxiliary Workers
Location: South Africa

West Rand District (Gauteng Province) X1 and Sekhukhune District  (Limpopo Province) X1. Please indicate in your covering letter the District you wish to apply for.

The Social Auxiliary Worker (SAW) in the Sex Work programme will primarily be responsible for conducting individual assessments and providing therapeutic interventions for sex workers and the programme team.The Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC) in Social Auxiliary Work (one year) or a two- or three-year diploma in Social Work.

Educational requirements:

  • Minimum of two to three years’ relevant experience post qualification
  • Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP)
  • Computer literacy in MW Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Driver’s licence will serve as an added advantage

Requirements:

  • Experience in social auxiliary work.
  • Experience in working in HIV programmes with key populations. Experience in sex work programming is beneficial.
  • Experience in providing therapeutic interventions to women, victims of GBV, key populations.
  • Facilitation skills.
  • Planning and organisational skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Report writing and interpersonal skills
  • Administrative skills
  • Good interpersonal skills, including being a team player.
  • Non-judgmental, trustworthy and empathetic personality.
  • Demonstrate strong professional attitude and behaviour at all times.
  • Ability to travel as and when required.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Provide support in the implementation of the Economic empowerment (EE) programme:
    • Identify and refer sex workers to the EE programme
    • Attend EE trainings when applicable
    • Work with the ESL mentor and ESL service provider in monitoring and support of the sex workers plan/goals
  • Attend monthly SR SP meetings
    • Follow-up on issues raised or referred by the mentor or ESL SP
    • Support with retention of the SW in the EE programme
  • Support the SR and SP during the EE Referral process
    • Follow-up with sex workers attendance on selected streams i.e. Work opportunities, Entrepreneurship or education
    • Participate in stakeholder meetings

Required experience:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a social auxiliary worker.
