The Global Campaign for Education (GCE) founded in 1999, is a global civil society movement working to end the education crisis. GCE members bring together civil society organisations, NGOs, teacher unions, child rights activists, parents’ associations, young people and community organisations who work together in coalition in nearly 100 countries. GCE promotes education as a basic human right, mobilises the public to put pressure on governments and the international community to fulfil their promises to provide free, compulsory, high quality public education for all.

The Global Campaign for Education (GCE) is seeking to recruit for the following positions: Campaigns & Designs Officer, Knowledge Management & Learning Officer, Youth Engagements Officer, Advocacy & Research Officer, Programme Manager and Senior Operations Manager.

Location: Johannesburg, SA or anywhere globally within GCE’s regions
Employment Type:  Fixed-term contract with possibility of renewal, to commence ASAP

1. Campaigns & Designs Officer 

Job purpose: To support the delivery of successful grassroots and public campaigns including a new global campaign across a range of different contexts; support GCE advocacy initiatives; engage with GCE’s member coalitions across the GCE membership on campaign and advocacy work; and provide support to the Policy, Advocacy and Campaigns Team’s activities.

Working areas: Advocacy, Campaigns, Members’ Engagement, Organisational activities
Reporting to: Campaigns Manager

2. Knowledge Management and Learning Officer

Job purpose: To support GCE’s Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning functions, to systematically capture and share strategic and programmatic learning, while ensuring their use and application throughout the GCE Movement. The Officer will support all knowledge management and learning practices and activities from all operational units.

Working areas: Support organisational learning; Development of learning resources and publications; Support overall implementation of MERL strategy and systems; Team membership
Reporting to: Monitoring, Evaluations and Learning (MEL) Manager

 3. Youth Engagements Officer

Job purpose: To input into the development of a youth strategy for GCE, including support to Youth Working Group, outreach and membership campaigns of youth-led organisations and overall assistance to further the achievement of the strategic and political objectives of the Global Campaign for Education and its members.

Working areas: Organisation; Policy and Support; Outreach and membership support

4. Advocacy & Research Officer

Job purpose: To support advocacy initiatives that strengthen the work of GCE, assist in developing policy content and to contribute to the advocacy and research activities, as well as support programmes that build GCE’s strategic areas.

Working areas: Organisational activities, Policy & Research support, Advocacy support

5. Programme Manager

Job purpose: To manage and coordinate programmes funded by SIDA and ensure effective programme delivery and progress reporting to the funders.

6. Senior Operations Manager

Job purpose: The Senior Operation Manager will play a critical role in partnering with the senior leadership team in strategic decision making and operations as Global Campaign for Education continues to enhance its quality programming and capacity of its members and partners.

Working areas: Financial Management; Human Resources, Technology & Administration; Audit & Internal Control
